As part of the Integrated Development Plan (IDP) Review Consultations, His Worship the Mayor Cllr. Bheki Thwala has successfully led a series of productive meetings across various wards, including all 15 wards. These sessions have offered local residents a valuable platform to influence development programme that the municipality will be embarking on the 2026/2027 financial year.
The consultations have focused on gathering community input to ensure that the municipality’s future development plans align with the needs and aspirations of the people. The discussions have been aimed at identifying key areas for improvement, addressing challenges, and shaping the direction of the uPhongolo Local Municipality’s development strategies. The Hon Mayor informed the Community of the budget for 2026/27 financial year, which is estimated at R446m, and he said that his Council has identified an amount of more than R46m, which will cover the construction of infrastructure projects. The Mayor also informed the Community of the things that he, as the Mayor of the Municipality, has done together with the Councillors, since 2021. The first meeting was held at Magengeni area in ward 13 and the second IDP roadshow was conducted at Khiphunyawo area in ward 3.
